Bobby Rondinelli (born July 27, 1955 in New York , USA ) is an American drummer .

Early years

Bobby Rondinelli learned to play drums from the age of eleven. Before that he played the guitar. At the age of 13 he played in his first band, The Wanderers . They played at school balls and brotherhood meetings. He also founded the band Tusk with his brother Teddy . He was still playing in a band called Samantha .

Promotion to Rainbow (1980–1982)

In 1980 Rondinelli failed when trying to become the new drummer for Kiss . The band chose Eric Carr because he could sing better, which is important for Kiss in the background vocals. That same year Ritchie Blackmore called Rondinelli and asked him if he wanted to join his band Rainbow to replace Cozy Powell . Rondinelli, then still with Samantha , agreed. The band then consisted of Blackmore and Rondinelli from Roger Glover , Don Airey and Joe Lynn Turner . With this line-up, the band released the album Difficult to Cure in 1981 . In the same year Don Airey left the band and was replaced by David Rosenthal. In 1982 the album Straight Between the Eyes was released with this line-up . Then Rondinelli left the band.

Further paths (1982–1993)

In 1983 he was involved in the creation of the Scorpions ' album Love at First Sting . However, the tracks he and Jimmy Bain made in the Polar Studios in Sweden were not used. In 1984 he founded the band Rondinelli with his brother Teddy (vocals, guitar). In 1985 the album Wardance was released with Ray Gillen on vocals, James LoMenzo on bass and Corey Davidson on keyboards. Then he joined Doro Pesch's band . He released the album Force Majeure with her in 1989 . In 1990 he went to Quiet Riot , with whom he released the album Terrified in 1993. The collaboration ended shortly afterwards and Rondinelli founded the band Sun Red Sun with ex-Rondinelli singer Ray Gillen . However, he died shortly afterwards of AIDS .

Black Sabbath & Blue Öyster Cult (1993-2004)

In 1994 Black Sabbath released the album Cross Purposes with Rondinelli on drums . In addition to Rondinelli, Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler , Tony Martin (vocals) and Geoff Nichols (keyboards) were in the band. On April 13, 1994, the band recorded the live album Cross Purposes Live at Hammersmith Apollo in London . In June 1994 he left Black Sabbath due to contractual problems. He then released the album Sun Red Sun in 1995 by the band of the same name, which had broken up due to Ray Gillen's death two years earlier. These were the original recordings, but they were not previously published. From 1995 to 1996, however, he returned to Black Sabbath. Since Geezer Butler left Black Sabbath again, Neil Murray was now on bass. From 1997 to 2004 Rondinelli played in the band Blue Öyster Cult . In addition to Eric Bloom and Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser, he played there with Danny Miranda (bass) and Allen Lanier (keyboards, guitar). He released 3 albums with the band.

At the same time he re-founded the band Rondinelli with Tony Martin (vocals) and Neil Murray (bass). His brother Teddy was there too. She released the album Our Cross, Our Sins in 2002 . Meanwhile, Rondinelli also played with Riot , The Lizards and The Sign .
