Never Say Die! is the eighth studio album by the British heavy metal band Black Sabbath . It was released in September 1978.

Emergence

Never Say Die! was recorded in Toronto in early 1978 . Despite the interpersonal problems that had already emerged while working on Technical Ecstasy, the band was glad that Ozzy Osbourne returned to the band after his father's death. In the meantime, Dave Walker had sung. Work on the album turned out to be difficult, however, as Osbourne returned just three days before the start of recording in January 1978:

“He (Ozzy Osbourne) didn't want to sing any of the material we had composed with Dave, which is why we flew into freezing Canada without songs. Our plan was to write songs in the morning and record them at night. We felt like machines that just had to work and didn't have time to let their ideas sink in. "

The drug use in the band was high, they sometimes had to break off sessions because no one could play properly. As with Technical Ecstasy , Bill Ward had to sing one of the pieces (Swinging The Chain) because Osbourne was no longer able to do it.

Sales of the album started slowly. For the tour, Van Halen , a young, playful support band, was again engaged, which Black Sabbath could not handle live.

The Hipgnosis team designed the cover again .
