Dave Walker (* 25. January 1945 as David Walker in Walsall , England ) is an English guitarist and singer .

Walker was raised by his grandmother. He made his first musical steps in the local church. At the beginning of the 1960s he played rhythm guitar with his brother in the band The Red Caps. After another musician left the band, Walker sang from then on. The band appeared four times as the opening act for the Beatles and signed a contract with Decca Records , where they released three singles in 1963 and 1964 .

Between 1965 and 1969 Walker played in the band Beckett. In 1970 he moved to The Idle Race , the following year he joined Savoy Brown and recorded three albums with the band. From September 1972 he sang for Fleetwood Mac , in 1974 he joined a short-lived project between two members of the band. 1976 Walker moved to San Francisco , where he worked with the band of the former guitarist of Quicksilver Messenger Service , John Cipollina occurred. When the band broke up, he performed with Black Sabbath for a few months , who at the time had broken up with singer Ozzy Osbourne .

In 1979, Walker founded the David Walker Band, with whom he made some recordings. From 1987 to 1991 he joined Savoy Brown again , with whom he recorded two albums, among other things. In the 1990s he gave a few solo concerts in England. In 2004 he sang for a project by British blues musicians .
