Mike Terrana
Mike Terrana (born January 21, 1960 in Buffalo , New York ) is an American drummer . Stylistically, he moves in the music genres hard rock , metal and fusion .
Since his album Sinfonica he has also moved into the field of classical music . As a longtime drummer for Tarja Turunen , he also released a classic album with her, Beauty and the Beat .
biography
He began his career in 1984 as a drummer for the Canadian band Hanover Fist. Between 1987 and 1997 he lived mostly in Los Angeles and worked with musicians such as Yngwie Malmsteen , Tony MacAlpine and Steve Lukather .
When Terrana registered in 1997 that he would not find a job as a drummer in Los Angeles, he went " without a visa and a bag full of cymbals and dreams " to the Netherlands for 6 months and later to Germany to work as a tour musician with Gamma, among others Ray to work. He quickly found jobs with bands in the metal sector. In Germany he became better known in 1999 - as one of the three band musicians in the metal band Rage . His collaboration with the band ended in December 2006 due to artistic and personal differences.
Terrana was a member of Axel Rudi Pell's band from 1998 to 2013 , Masterplan from 2006 to 2012 and Savage Circus from 2007 to 2012 . From 2007 to 2015 he also worked as a tour musician with Tarja Turunen . He has been playing with avalanch since 2019. In his appearances with the various bands, he often uses the opportunity to perform a virtuoso drum solo, which he himself describes as a rhythm beast performance . He has also been on the road with Hardline since 2012 . In spring 2014 he will release a debut album with 10 songs with his new band Terrana . The first music video for a song called One Way has been available since November 2013 . The band consists of Fabri Kiarelli (guitar and vocals) and Alberto Bollati (bass and vocals)
