Eldorado (full title: "Eldorado - A Symphony By The Electric Light Orchestra") is the fourth studio album by the British band Electric Light Orchestra (ELO).
background
Eldorado reached number 16 in the US charts and was listed there for 32 weeks. It is considered the first album to feature the orchestral sound of ELO and was the group's most successful album to date. The orchestra was conducted by Louis Clark.
The prologue was spoken by Peter Ford-Robertson.
The cover of the album shows on both the front and the back how two greenish, skinny hands reach for a woman's red shoes (design by John Kehe). The picture comes from the film The Wizard of Oz (1939) and shows how the wicked witch tries to get Dorothy's shoes.
The lyrics are printed on the inside cover and a reddish black and white photo (photo by Norman Seeff) is shown: Richard Tandy, Jeff Lynne, Hugh McDowell, Michael de Albuquerque, Michael Edwards, Bev Bevan and Mik Kaminski can be seen there.
