Discovery is the eighth studio album by the British rock band Electric Light Orchestra (ELO). With this album, the band developed away from rock and towards disco music.

background

Discovery was the first album of ELO, which in the UK , the no. 1 of the charts reaching. Single releases such as Confusion or Don't Bring Me Down conquered the single charts at the time.

For the cover of the album, in turn, is already on the albums was Out of the Blue and accommodating A new world record known spacecraft used that but like a toy in the hands of a curious-looking, one here turban is shown supporting young man. However, the entire scene only becomes clear when the double cover is opened: In the background a man draws his saber. The inside of the cover depicts the escape of the boy with the spaceship in his arms from three saber-wielding riders in the desert.

The record sleeve itself is adorned with black and white photos by Jeff Lynne, Bev Bevan, Richard Tandy and Kelly Groucutt, as well as the texts of the titles contained.
