IFPI Hong Kong Group
The IFPI Hong Kong Group ( IFPI HKG for short ) is an interest group that represents companies from the Hong Kong music industry . The organization was founded in 1967 and currently has 92 members. IFPI Hong Kong is chaired by Ricky Fung and the organization is based in Kowloon . In addition to the presentation of gold and platinum awards, the IFPI HKG also hosted the Hong Kong Top Sales Music Awards from 2001 to 2015, which honors the most successful artists of the previous year. The Hong Kong Digital Music Awards were also presented from 2011 to 2015 .
IFPI HKG shares the status of the IFPI ( International Federation of the Phonographic Industry ) national group for Hong Kong with the collecting society Hong Kong Recording Industry Alliance (HKRIA) . Until October 2008, IFPI HKG was the sole interest group representing companies from the Hong Kong music industry. With the establishment of HKRIA, IFPI HKG concentrated on representing local companies and HKIRA on representing international companies. This can also be seen in the memberships of both organizations. While the IFPI HKG only has local members, the HKRIA currently has over 100 members such as EMI , Sony , Universal , Warner and Deutsche Grammophon .
