Associação Fonográfica Portuguesa

The Associação Fonográfica Portuguesa ("Portuguese Phonographic Association"), AFP for short , is the only professional association of the music industry in Portugal and the Portuguese national group of the IFPI .

The organization was founded in 1989 and replaced both the Grupo Português de Produtores e Fonogramas e Videogramas (GPPFV) and the União dos Editores de Vídeo e Áudio (UNEVA) . It publishes its market data for free use by students and interested parties.

Music charts

In 2013 the following Portuguese music charts were published on the AFP homepage:

  • Top Artistas (album charts)
  • Top Compilações ( compilations )
  • Top DVD

From 2003 to 2015, the top 30 album charts were public, from 2016 it was expanded to the top 50 charts.

There were single charts until 1993, when it was discontinued due to falling sales at vinyl singles , and then again from July 2000 to March 2004, until this time the CD single sales collapsed.
