La Bouche ( French for “the mouth”) was founded in 1994 and was a successful Eurodance duo in the 1990s with roots in Germany and the USA.

activity

The original lineup consisted of singer Melanie Thornton and rapper D. Lane McCray Jr. . The first hit, Sweet Dreams (1994), was not rapping Lane, but Robert Haynes, who later rapped on Le Click (a project in which Thornton sang the song Tonight Is the Night ). Lane's rap part was later re-recorded for the USA. The debut album Sweet Dreams was released in 1995 and was very successful in Europe and Asia as well as in Canada .

Producers Amir Saraf and Ulli Brenner started the project in 1993 with singer Melanie Thornton from Charleston, South Carolina, USA. With the support of Frank Farian , it became one of the most successful dance duos in Europe (No. 1 in Germany) and America (No. 6 in the USA) and received eight gold and one platinum records. After 1998, success leveled off and Thornton began planning her solo career. In Finland, La Bouche reached the top 20 with every release between 1994 and 1999, u. a. A Moment of Love 1998 (18th place) and Bolingo / Megamix 1996 (15th place).

The last album was a memorial album, which, in addition to two unreleased songs, contained the hits of La Bouche and solo hits by Thornton, who died in a plane crash in Switzerland ( Crossair flight 3597 ) in November 2001 .

In September 2017 Lane released a new version of Sweet Dreams with his new singer Sophie Cairo , a month later a remix EP with numerous remixes, including by StoneBridge & Damien Hall. The lyric video was placed in the MTV Video Top 100 for several weeks, and several of the remixes stayed in the USA Dance Charts for almost a year.

On August 14, 2018, a new single, Night after Night, was released worldwide, which was also supported by Frank Farian and again contained remixes by well-known DJs and producers.
