Atticus Ross (born January 16, 1968 in England ) is a British composer , musician and producer . Together with Trent Reznor he composed the music for the film The Social Network , for which both received the Academy Award in 2010 .

Career

Atticus Ross first appeared with Tim Simenon's Bomb the Bass in the mid-1990s. He was working as a synthesizer programmer at the time of Unknown Territory and Clear . For Barry Adamson he programmed the synthesizer for The Negro Inside Me and Oedipus Schmoedipus . In 1998 he produced the album As Above, So Below . Then he founded his own band 12 Rounds with Adam Holden and Claudia Sarne . With this he released the two albums Jitterjuice and My Big Hero .

In 2000 he settled in the United States . As a programmer and producer, he was involved in various Nine Inch Nails albums .

In 2010 he composed the soundtrack for the film The Social Network by David Fincher with Trent Reznor . In 2011 he and Reznor received the Oscar , the Golden Globe Award and the Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for the score .

Then he was involved in the How to Destroy Angels project. Ross plays synthesizers and bass here.

At the end of 2011, the film version Verblendung (original title: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo ) of the novel of the same name from the Millennium trilogy by the author Stieg Larsson came into the cinemas. The director was again David Fincher and here, too, Ross worked with Trent Reznor on the soundtrack.

In 2014, Ross and Reznor composed the soundtrack for the novel Gone Girl . This marked their third collaboration with film director David Fincher. In the same year Atticus Ross composed the music for Love & Mercy . In 2015 he worked on Blackhat .

In 2015 he composed the theme music for the Walking Dead offshoot Fear the Walking Dead . In 2017 he composed the soundtrack for the multi-part television documentary Vietnam together with Trent Reznor .

His sister is the British model and actress Liberty Ross . His grandfather was the British diplomat Miles Lampson, 1st Baron Killearn .
