Barry Adamson
Barry Adamson (born June 11, 1958 in Moss Side , Manchester ) is a British musician.
biography
Adamson grew up in Manchester and began to love music at a young age. He wrote his first song Brain Pain when he was 10 years old. After school he tried his hand at graphic design , but slipped into the punk scene that was just beginning . He founded Magazine with ex- Buzzcocks singer Howard Devoto . He played the electric bass there and remained a member of the band until the end. He also participated in Devoto's solo album and in the successor band Luxuria . In addition to magazines, he also recorded the first two Visage albums .
After the end of Magazine, Adamson participated in Pete Shelley's third solo album . He then joined The Birthday Party from 1982 to 1983 . With them he released the debut album of the same name and the albums Prayers on Fire and Junkyard . After the breakup, Adamson joined the follow-up project Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds . There he played on four albums.
In 1987 his solo career began. He released his first EP, The Man with the Golden Arm, on Mute Records . This was followed by Moss Side Story . The album contained the fictional soundtrack to a thriller . He has released eight solo albums to date and has worked on seven soundtracks , including a. for David Lynch's Lost Highway and Oliver Stones Natural Born Killers . His last soundtrack was for the film The Beach . He also played on the albums of several artists, for example Lydia Lunch and Anita Lane . Adamson made several remixes for artists such as Depeche Mode , The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and Einstürzende Neubauten .
