description
In the series, the roles of the various political sections of the Vietnamese people are presented in detail and the views of the European and American elites against the liberation movement in Vietnam and in the Cold War "against communism" in Asia, e.g. B. the perceived as a threat politics of the People's Republic of China in the entire region, analyzed. On the other hand, statements are made about the view of the same time periods in Vietnam itself.
The historian Stephen Ambrose describes Burns' influence somewhat like this: "From none other than him do many Americans get their historical knowledge". Real Screen Magazine came to the statement in 2002 after a survey that Burns and Robert J. Flaherty (with his Nanuk, the Eskimo of 1922), the documentary filmmakers with the greatest influence ("of all time").

Original US version
The American Original Version The Vietnam War is a 10-part, 18-hour documentary. Public Broadcasting Service broadcast the premiere on September 17, 2017. In addition to extensive historical film material, numerous interviews with contemporary and in some cases eyewitnesses recorded during the six years of shooting and editing of the film (or parts of them) are incorporated. It is precisely these contemporary witnesses who often show contemporary images or film recordings from the war years in connection with this, especially during the actions that are described. It seems as if you are now directly commenting on the way you acted back then.
