John Oates (2016)

John Oates (born April 7, 1949 in New York City ) is an American singer and producer . Along with Daryl Hall, he is part of the pop music duo Hall & Oates .

Career

In 1966 John Oates joined the band "The Masters". As students at Temple University , Daryl Hall and John Oates met in 1967 when their bands performed at the Adelphi Ballroom in Philadelphia. Oates initially decided against a music career, left the University of Philadelphia and lived in Europe for about a year. When he returned to Philadelphia, he performed live with Daryl Hall from December 1970 and founded the duo "Hall & Oates" with him. On March 6, 1972, the two musicians signed their first record deal with Atlantic Records and released their first album Whole Oats in October . From 1974 to 2005, the duo had a total of 34 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.

John Oates' first project as a producer without Daryl Hall was the 1987 album Small Victories by the Canadian band The Parachute Club . In the same year he worked on the album Man of Colors by the Australian band Icehouse and the album Elisa Fiorillo by the singer of the same name. In 1996 he was involved in the creation of the album The Peacemaker by Jerry Lynn Williams . In 2004, he was on the album White People of Handsome Boy Modeling School to hear.

Although he was successful as a musician and later as a producer for more than three decades, Oates only released his first solo album Phunk Shui in 2002 . In 2008, a live version of this album was followed by the CD 1000 Miles of Life . Mississippi Mile was released in 2011, The Bluesville Sessions in 2012 and Good Road to Follow and Live at the Troubadour in 2014 .

Private

Oates has been married to Aimee Oates since 1996. Their son, Tanner John Oates, was born on June 19, 1996.
