Richie Sambora (* 11. July 1959 in Perth Amboy , New Jersey as Richard Stephen Sambora ) is an American musician , guitarist and songwriter. He was the guitarist of the rock group Bon Jovi and has also released several successful solo albums .

Career

He began to learn instruments at the age of seven and soon mastered the piano , accordion , trumpet and guitar .

His greatest musical influences are Eric Clapton , Jimi Hendrix , Jeff Beck , Jimmy Page , Brian May and the Beatles . Before joining Bon Jovi in ​​1983, he worked in the band The Message , among others , which also appeared in the opening act of a Joe Cocker tour. He also auditioned for Kiss .

In 1991, when Bon Jovi were in a break and Jon Bon Jovi had recently published before his first solo album, appeared with Stranger in This Town Sambor solo premiere, on the addition to the bandmates Tico Torres and David Bryan and Tony Levin is heard. Sambora grew up in financially constrained circumstances. His father Adam worked as a foreman in an electricity company during the day and also had to work as a janitor in a hospital at night. His mother Joan also worked as a secretary, so Sambora spent a lot of time with his grandmother and grandfather, who died when Sambora was fourteen years old. Due to the financial hardship at home, he took on various jobs such as guitar teacher, record seller, but also factory work and a job in a cleaning company.

Richie Sambora was married to actress Heather Locklear from December 1994 to April 2007 and has a daughter with her (* 1997). From mid-2006 to May 2007 he was in a relationship with actress Denise Richards . In June 2007, Sambora hit the headlines when he appeared drunk to an MTV Unplugged concert by Bon Jovi and later went to a clinic for detox.

From 2014 to 2018 Sambora was in a relationship with the 26 years younger guitarist Orianthi .
