Dry County is a song by the American rock band Bon Jovi . It was released in May 1994 as the sixth and final single from the album Keep the Faith . It was written by Jon Bon Jovi . Dry County is Bon Jovi's longest song ever with a length of 9 minutes and 52 seconds. A shorter version with a length of six minutes reached number nine in the British charts .

Dry County, which is about the decline of the oil industry, is an epic power ballad with multiple climaxes and two long solos by Richie Sambora , comparable to songs like Free Bird ( Lynyrd Skynyrd ), Child in Time ( Deep Purple ), Stairway to Heaven ( Led Zeppelin ), Telegraph Road ( Dire Straits ) and November Rain ( Guns n 'Roses ).
