Bad Medicine is a 1988 Bon Jovi song written by Jon Bon Jovi , Richie Sambora, and Desmond Child . It appeared on the album New Jersey .

history

The song is emphasized by the constant play on the keyboard by David Bryan , which is more precisely defined at the beginning and with several solos, as well as the guitar riffs by Richie Sambora that clearly come to the fore . Jon Bon Jovi took on both lead vocals and background vocals personally. Bad Medicine is one of the happier and harder rocking songs on the New Jersey album.

Towards the end of the song, Jon says he's out of breath and has to go, but then he gives in and says, "I'm not done ... one more time, with feelin '" (German: "I'm not done yet ... one more time with feeling! ") and finally Bon Jovi ends the song with a repetition of the chorus.

Bad Medicine is still played by many rock stations today and is very popular there, so it is an integral part of many live performances. However, this is mostly performed as a medley with the Isley Brothers classic Shout from 1959.

It was released on September 3, 1988.

The song is also available on the compilations Cross Road , Greatest Hits , One Wild Night Live 1985-2001 , the acoustic album This Left Feels Right and in the concert films Live from London and Crush Tour .

In the film Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back , and in the episode Spock, Kirk and a hernia of Young Sheldon could hear the song. In the episode Until Death Do You Part From The Simpsons , there was a reference to the song.

Music video

There are two music videos for the song: One based on a recording of a live concert and a much better known one: In the second clip, many young fans of Bon Jovi queue up to appear in the video. This crowd is cheered by Sam Kinison asks if they can make a better video of Bon Jovi than the camera crew. The crowd enthusiastically affirmed this, received cameras and stormed the stage where Bon Jovi were performing to film.
