DJ Ashba
DJ Ashba (born November 10, 1972 in Monticello , Indiana ; real name Darren Jay Ashba ) is an American guitarist and producer. He currently works for Sixx: AM and was with Guns N 'Roses from 2009 to 2015 . He gained his first fame as a songwriter with Mötley Crüe .
Life
Shortly after Ashba's birth in Monticello, his family moved to Fairbury , Illinois . He grew up on a farm and spent his entire childhood there. Since his mother was a good pianist, he learned to play the piano at the age of three. He also collected parts of drums and used them to build his own drum set when he was eight. He bought an electric guitar with the money he earned doing farm work . This enabled him to start a band with a friend. He taught him to play the guitar by cutting chords into a wooden board with a pocket knife. Since his devout parents forbade him to do many things, he sat at home for hours and learned to play the guitar. When he was allowed to go to a Mötley Crüe concert on his 16th birthday, he decided to become a professional musician. His first bands were called Beautiful Creatures and Barracuda . He was also traveling solo. He got a contract with Warner and wrote with Mötley Crüe on the new album Saints of Los Angeles . In 2007 he recorded the soundtrack for the book The Heroin Diaries with Nikki Sixx and James Michael . This created the band Sixx: AM , which is still active. In February 2009 he was introduced to Guns N 'Roses as the successor to the dismissed Robin Finck . In July 2015, he announced that he was leaving Guns N 'Roses after more than six years to focus on Sixx: AM and his family.
In February 2018 James Michael and DJ Ashba went live on Facebook to announce the new joint project Pyromantic. They also stated that Sixx: AM will enter a hiatus for an unknown time. In August it was announced that James Michael is no longer part of Pyromantic as he wanted to focus on his podcast and starting his record company.

In August 2013, Ashba announced he was engaged to his girlfriend, model Nathalia Henao. The couple married on September 23, 2013 in Las Vegas. He has lived in Las Vegas since 2012.
