Live Era '87 -'93 (English for: " Live-Ära '87 -'93 ") is the first live album by the US hard rock band Guns N 'Roses . The double album, released in 1999, contains live versions of the band's well-known studio tracks and a cover version of the Black Sabbath song It's Alright . At the time of the appearance, only Axl Rose was left of the original line-up.

background

The album was Guns N 'Roses' first official album after the cover album The Spaghetti Incident? from 1993. At the time of publication, only Axl Rose was part of the group from the original line-up, but Slash and Duff McKagan were included in the song selection. Since there was no longer a good atmosphere between the former band members, one communicated through intermediaries.

Instead of a list of the shows where the songs were recorded, the booklet simply says “Recorded across the universe between 1987 and 1993”. Most of the songs come from the extensive Use Your Illusion tour that took place between 1991 and 1993. The album was edited in the studio and playing and vocal errors were corrected.

Matt Sorum , drummer of Guns N 'Roses between 1990 and 1997 and thus heard on a large number of the songs, was only noted as "Additional Musician" (additional musician), while Steven Adler is listed as "Main Band Member" (group member) . The background was differences of opinion between Sorum and Rose, which led to Sorum's exit from Guns N 'Roses in advance.

The song selection consists of the albums Appetite for Destruction , G N 'R Lies and the two Use-Your-Illusion albums that have been released to date . The cover album The Spaghetti Incident? has not been taken into account, as the band did not complete a corresponding tour for this album. The only hitherto unreleased song is the Black Sabbath cover version It's Alright on the album.
