Richard Fortus (born November 17, 1966 in St. Louis , Missouri ) is an American guitarist.

Career

Fortus grew up in St. Louis and now lives in New York City . Until 2000 he was a member of Love Spit Love . In addition to professional engagements with the backing bands of * NSYNC , Enrique Iglesias and Nena , with whom he recorded the double album Willst du mit mir gehn , he was also a guest musician at a live concert by X Japan . In 2002 he replaced Paul Tobias as rhythm guitarist for Guns N 'Roses .

In 2013 Fortus joined the rock band The Dead Daisies , which otherwise consists of singer Jon Stevens, rhythm guitarist Dave Lowy, bassist Marco Mendoza ( Thin Lizzy , Black Star Riders ), keyboardist Dizzy Reed and drummer John Tempesta ( The Cult ) . They have so far released two singles ( Lock N Load (featuring Slash ) and Washington ) as well as a self-titled debut album on August 9, 2013.

Guitars

Typical of Richard Fortus are guitars with an unusual shape and design, such as his '63 Epiphone or his '59 TV JR, whereby he favors Gibson guitars at his live concerts with Guns N 'Roses , as all members of Guns have so far N 'Roses did, although he also occasionally uses his Fender Telecaster '71 at live concerts. He also plays Gretsch semi-resonance guitars , such as a Gretsch White Falcon .
