Josh Freese (born December 25, 1972 in Orlando , Florida ) is an American drummer . He has lived in Southern California since he was six months old . He grew up in a musical family: his father ran the Disneyland Band and his mother was a classical pianist. He is also the brother of Jason Freese , who plays the saxophone and keyboards at Green Day .

Life

He has been playing drums since he was 7 or 8 years old. He has been playing professionally since he was 12 and began touring and recording at the age of 15. His first band was Dweezil Zappa , then The Vandals , of which he is still a member. He is also a permanent member of A Perfect Circle , and he was also part of the band with Devo . He also works as a studio musician and, according to his own estimates, worked on 250 to 300 albums from 2003, including by Paramore , The Offspring , 311 , Avril Lavigne , Kelly Clarkson , Chris Cornell , Evanescence , Guns N 'Roses , Juliana Hatfield , Mike Ness , Nine Inch Nails , Paul Westerberg , Perry Farrell , Seether , Sting, and Suicidal Tendencies . Also: Puddle of Mudd , Meredith Brooks , Infectious Grooves , Black Light Burns , Rob Zombie and Static-X . He also served as a drummer on Nine Inch Nails' Performance 2007 and Performance 2008 Tour. In 2009 he released his solo album, which was released in various versions at prices ranging from $ 7 to $ 75,000. In the same year he played with Slash's solo album Slash , which was released in spring 2010.
