Dweezil Zappa (* 5. September 1969 in Los Angeles ) is an American rock - guitarist . He is a son of Frank Zappa .

His official name - after the first names of friends of his father - was initially Ian Donald Calvin Euclid Zappa , as the nurse urged the parents to give the child a different name immediately after the birth. In the family, however, he was always called Dweezil. When he was five years old, he discovered on his birth certificate that his official name was not and asked his parents to change his name. His name was officially changed to Dweezil (English, pronounced like (d -) "weasel" ).

The album My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mama (1988) included the song of the same name by his father Frank Zappa from the album Weasels Ripped My Flesh , which Dweezil Zappa interpreted in the style of Van Halen . The music video shot for the song , which is stylistically based on the black and white image aesthetics of the film noir genre, was very successful on the music channel MTV .
