Duckman - Private Dick / Family Man is an American animated series developed by Jeff Reno and Ron Osborn and based on the Dark Horse Comics by Everett Peck .

content

The series describes the life of the private detective Eric Tiberius Duckman, a duck with mostly a moderate professional life and even worse success in love life. Duckman's beloved wife Beatrice passed away (presumably) before the first episode and his household now consists of his aerobic - addicted sister-in-law Bernice , who sees him as a failure, his comatose mother-in-law, and his brilliant sons Charles and Mambo , who are in a body with two heads, as well as his older son Ajax , who, in contrast, is more likely to be at the other end of the intelligence scale.

Duckman messes up most of his jobs and mostly only survives thanks to his business partner Cornfed (a pig), who has undreamt-of talent.

Two other characters are the teddy bears Uranus and Fluffy , Duckman's assistants, whom he only treats with contempt on principle, but usually murdered or at least mutilated in some brutal way. As comic characters, however, they do not die and in spite of everything they keep their happiness, which is dripping with happiness and which is reminiscent of the children's cartoon series The Care Bears .

Duckman's archenemy is King Chicken , who occasionally shows up to make life difficult for him.

Last episode and end of the series

Episode 70 with the title Four Weddings Inconceivable , the officially last episode, ends with a so-called cliffhanger . Duckman finds out something that Cornfed should have told him long ago, but apparently forgot. It will be continued with a sequel ... the next episode will be announced with the resolution, but this never came out.

Production and publication

The 70 episodes of the series were created between 1993 and 1997 and were first broadcast by USA Network . The Klasky Csupo company was responsible for production . The station Comedy Central broadcast all episodes of the series (some slightly shortened) again from 2002.

In the German-speaking area, Duckman first ran on January 5, 1996 on RTL II's night program . Since February 2007 the show has been running again on the Junior channel , which is broadcast on Premiere , in the evening program. So far, only the first 26 episodes have been broadcast in German-speaking countries.

synchronization

In the original, well-known actors lent their voices to the characters in the series. B. Duckman: Jason Alexander ( George in Seinfeld ), King Chicken: Tim Curry (Hollywood actor) and Art "Bones" McSalvo: Gilbert Gottfried (comedian), to name a few. There are also some cameos (guest appearances).

The series was also dubbed in German . Duckman's dubbing voice was Stefan Fredrich , known as the German voice of Jim Carrey , who, like in the English original (Jason Alexander), can speak very quickly. Duckman's partner Cornfed is voiced by Jan Spitzer .
