13 is the ninth studio album by the US band Suicidal Tendencies . It was released on March 26, 2013 in the USA on Suicidal Records . It was also published in Germany on April 5, 2013 .

Origin and style

Mike Muir announced in September 2002 that the band was in the studio and working on new songs. The new album should be released in early 2003. In autumn 2003 a double CD for 2004 was announced. In the fall of 2004 an album called Return to Venice was announced again, but it was not a suicidal album, but also contained pieces from the side projects. The new album should appear after that.

In 2006 and 2008, announcements by Mike Muir were again published. In November 2011, the band said they had recorded three new albums, they just had to be put together.

In May 2012, original guitarist Mike Clark suffered a head injury. Nico Santora is now playing for him. In December 2012 it was announced that the band is back in the studio. The announcement of 13 was then made on February 21, 2013.

Four references to the number 13 can be made from the album title: it is the 13th studio release (including Controlled by Hatred / Feel Like Shit ... Déjà Vu , Still Cyco After All These Years , Six the Hard Way and No Mercy Fool! / The Suicidal Family ), there are 13 tracks on the album, and it is the first album in 13 years and was released in 2013. Mike Muir also wore baseball shirts with the number 13 before.

reception

Fred Thomas from Allmusic described the album as "petulant, cathartic, thrashy hardcore the band is known for". He awarded 3.5 out of five stars.
