The Offspring (English for: ". The young ") is the debut album of the same name American punk rock - band The Offspring . It was released on June 15, 1989 on the independent label Nemesis Records.

After the band formed in 1984, made their first demo recordings and released the song I'll Be Waiting in 1986 , The Offspring recorded their debut album in 1989. 5000 copies of the sound carrier were pressed, of which about 3000 were sold at the time of publication.

The album was produced by music producer Thom Wilson and recorded at the South Coast Recording Studios in Santa Ana , California .

Cover design

The album cover of the original version shows a black and white drawing by Marc Rude. A male person is depicted, whose stomach bursts open and from which an alien-like creature, holding a guitar, slips. At the bottom right of the picture is the black lettering the Offspring . The cover of the 1995 re-release is mostly dark and shows an alien-like figure blurred. At the top of the picture is written The Offspring in large yellow and green letters .

In 1986 the song I'll Be Waiting with the B-side Blackball was released as a single with an edition of 1000 copies. Both songs were re-recorded for the album.

Republication

In 1995 the album was re-released with a changed cover on Nitro Records , the label of Dexter Holland . On the new pressings since 2001, the song Kill the President is no longer included on the band's own initiative .
