She was supported by the music production team The Matrix , who had already written songs for Sheena Easton and Christina Aguilera . Lavigne brought personal experiences to all of the songs, for example about problems with her parents, school and her first love. 2011-2015: Avril Lavigne
Three months after Goodbye Lullaby was released , Lavigne announced that work on her fifth studio album has already begun. Eight songs have been written so far. The new album is supposed to be the musical opposite of Goodbye Lullaby . Lavigne said, “ Goodbye Lullaby is a more mature album, but the next one should be more pop and fun. I already have a song that could be released as a single, I just need to record it again! ”A little later, in July 2011, Lavigne revealed the titles of two songs on her fifth album: Fine and Gone . These tracks were originally recorded for Goodbye Lullaby but did not make it into the final selection for the album. Lavigne's fifth album is said to be released "much earlier than expected", but an exact time has not been announced by Lavigne or her label. In October 2011 Lavigne confirmed her move to the Epic Records label , which is currently managed by her discoverer Antonio "LA" Reid.
Billboard Brazil announced that the first single from the album is likely to be released in October 2012. Reid confirmed that the album will be out in late 2012 or early 2013. On December 12th, she released another song, Tell Me It's Over, and the accompanying music video from her album.
The album Head Above Water was released on February 15, 2019 .
style
She grew up listening to the music of Blink-182 , Goo Goo Dolls , matchbox twenty and Shania Twain . Courtney Love and Janis Joplin are among her role models. She also counts Madonna as her idol. Due to these influences, the music genre and her personal style, Lavigne is often described as punk by the mass media . Lavigne's friend and guitarist Evan Taubenfeld said of her that she wasn't punk and didn't come from punk culture either. Lavigne also commented, "I've been called the bad girl, [a] rebel, punk, and I'm none of that."
music
Her music style is somewhere between pop and rock. The spectrum ranges from rather calm, ballad-like pieces like I'm with You , Tomorrow , Innocence or How Does It Feel to hip-hop-inspired titles like Nobody's Fool to rock-like songs like Sk8er Boi or He Wasn't .
On her debut album, Let Go , Lavigne released mainstream songs like Losing Grip and the pop song Complicated , to which she said, “The songs I recorded with The Matrix were good for my first record, but I didn't want the pop music on mine anymore Songs ".
Texts
She has been involved in the songwriting of all songs so far. For example, Losing Grip , I'm with You , Naked , Girlfriend , Hot , Don't Tell Me or When You're Gone deal with the topic of love . Others are a kind of self-characterization ( My World , Nobody's Fool , Anything but Ordinary ). Sometimes stories are also told, for example in Sk8er Boi or Nobody's Home .
“I know my fans look up to me and that's why I make my songs so personal; it's all about things I've experienced and things I like or hate. I write for myself and hope that my fans like what I have to say. "
“I know my fans admire me and that's why my songs are so personal. They are about my experiences, experiences and the things I like or hate. I write for myself and hope that my fans will find what I have to say good. "
Other themes in Lavigne's songs include personal messages from a female point of view. Lavigne believes that "her songs are about you". Lavigne's second album, Under My Skin , consists largely of personal messages from the songs. Lavigne explained, "I got so inside myself, a lot of personal things came to my mind ... like boys, friendships or relationships". In contrast, the third album The Best Damn Thing hardly contained any personal songs: "Most of the songs I wrote for my third album have no real relation to me ...". Lavigne wrote songs for the album that had "fun" as a theme. Goodbye Lullaby , Lavigne's fourth album, is said to be her most personal album, with which she also wants to process the separation from her ex-husband. Lavigne described the album as “… very personal and dark. All songs are very emotional ”.

The concert usually ended with the song Slipped Away , which Avril Lavigne plays alone on the piano without any other instruments. Halfway through the show, Lavigne had never played the song again because she was rumored to have found it uncomfortable and intimate to play in front of so many people.
In 2007 Lavigne played two concerts in Germany, but she described this as a "promo" and not as a tour. Only after completing her doctorate for The Best Damn Thing began her third major world tour in early 2008. The "The Best Damn Tour 2008" tour started in Canada in March 2008 and took Lavigne around the world over the course of the year. Due to an acute laryngitis , some of her concerts in America had to be canceled at the end of April / beginning of May 2008. Then the set list was shortened a bit in Europe, which is also associated with it.
