Emergence

In 2003 Yoko Ono gave Amnesty International the editing rights for all songs from John Lennon's solo career. In a first campaign, only the song Imagine was recorded by children from all over the world for the benefit of Amnesty International. On December 10, 2005, the Make Some Noise campaign began , with the aim of expanding the organization's support base, especially among young people. The first artists to win were The Black Eyed Peas , The Cure , Snow Patrol , The Postal Service and Avril Lavigne . In the summer of 2006 the project was presented at various music festivals. The songs were initially sold individually through the campaign website; In 2007 the album was released on CD. All proceeds went to Amnesty International.

Reviews

The album received mixed reviews. Although the Darfur campaign was highlighted as worthy of support, the musical reviews were not very benevolent. On the album, "(a few) good moments alternated with (too many) unimportant ones". The compilation contains some outstanding versions, but overall it is rather disappointing and will not be remembered for long.
