The Jaguares (German Jaguars ) are a professional rugby union team from the Argentine capital Buenos Aires .
History and structure
The team has been playing in the international rugby union league Super Rugby against other professional teams from Australia , Japan , New Zealand and South Africa since the 2016 season . As a national team, it officially represents the clubs playing in the highest Argentine rugby union league and the regional rugby union federation of Buenos Aires , but it is not identical to the Argentine national rugby union team .
The Jaguares start in a preliminary group against seven other teams, one from Japan and six from South Africa. The team plays its home games in the José Amalfitani Stadium with around 50,000 seats in Buenos Aires.
Founded in 2015, the team is designed as a franchise and is the successor to Pampas XV, which was active between 2010 and 2015 . Their education goes back to the initiative to expand the competitions held in the southern hemisphere between the rugby union national teams of Australia , New Zealand and South Africa to include more nations. As early as 2011, the annual Rugby Championship tournament was expanded to include the Argentine national rugby union team .
The greatest success of the Jaguares was their participation in the finals in the 2019 season, where they lost against the Crusaders from New Zealand.
