Let Go (Engl .: " Let go ") is the first studio album of Canadian rock - singer Avril Lavigne and was in on 4 June 2002 USA released. The album was releasedin Germany on September 9, 2002.

background

Due to differences with the record company Arista Records , Avril Lavigne moved from New York to Los Angeles . There she met the producer Clif Magness, with whom she could finish the album Let Go according to her wishes. She was supported by the producer collective "The Matrix", who had already written songs for Sheena Easton and Christina Aguilera . Lavigne brought personal experiences to all of the songs, for example about problems with her parents, school and her first love.

tour

To market her debut album, Lavigne started her first world tour in January 2003 called the Try to Shut Me Up Tour . In addition to the songs on the album, the setlist also consisted of cover versions of other well-known songs, e.g. B. Knockin 'on Heaven's Door by Bob Dylan or Basket Case by the band Green Day . During the tour, the DVD My World was created. The tour ended in June 2003 after 57 concerts.

The album developed into a worldwide surprise success and has been sold over 18 million times to date. It ranks 8th among the world's most successful albums from 2000 to 2009. In 2002 the album was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Pop Vocal Album category. The song Complicated was nominated in the categories Song of The Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance . The song Skater Boi was nominated in the category Best Female Rock Vocal Performance . In 2003, the song I'm With You was nominated for Song of The Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance . The song Losing Grip was nominated in the Best Female Rock Vocal Performance category. The album went platinum six times in the US, seven times in Australia and Canada. Avril Lavigne received a diamond award for sales of over one million units. In Germany, Let Go received platinum in 2002. In total, the album stayed in the top 10 of the German album charts for 13 weeks and was among the top 100 albums for 51 weeks. The highest ranking was second. With the follow-up album Under My Skin , she was able to top this success.
