How You Remind Me (English; " How You Remind Me ") is a song by the Canadian rock band Nickelback . The song is the first single from their third studio album Silver Side Up and was released on August 21, 2001. The piece helped the band achieve their worldwide commercial breakthrough and was the most played single on US radio stations from 2001 to 2009. The song was composed by Chad R. Kroeger , Michael D. Kroeger , Ryan A. Peake and Ryan Vikedal .

content

Thematically, it's about a man who looks back on a broken relationship with his ex-girlfriend. He blames himself for misbehaving, being blind and having no sense of emotion. His ex-girlfriend would remind him who he really was. The man has made a lot of mistakes and swears that he still loves her. There are also indications that he was addicted to alcohol during their relationship . Finally, he asks the question whether they had fun despite all this and says no.

According to his own statement, Kroeger wrote the song about his ex-girlfriend Jodi.

production

The song was produced by music producer Rick Parashar in collaboration with Nickelback.

Music video

In the video, Nickelback play a small concert in front of a few spectators, including the ex-girlfriend of Chad Kroeger (played by the model Annie Henley). Kroeger has been abandoned by her and the memories of her still haunt him. He sees them in different places he goes and imagines their touch. But in the course of the video he finally gets over her. During his concert, his ex-girlfriend approaches him and apparently asks for forgiveness, but he has overcome his lovesickness and pushes her away. Now the tide has turned and she is heartbroken and haunted by memories of him.
