criticism
In contrast to its predecessor All the Right Reasons, Dark Horse's reviews were much better, if only average. According to "The Wendigo" from Whiskey-soda.de , Dark Horse is "finally an album to rock out" . He also describes Burn It to the Ground as the best song in the band's history. At the same time he thinks that you could have "saved yourself the embarrassing Never Gonna Be Alone ". Overall, he sees a mix of hard rock , pop , country and rock 'n' roll in Dark Horse , "which Alice Cooper puts in his pocket and meets stadium rock à la Springsteen or Kid Rock " . CD-starts.de wrote that the album with Never Gonna Be Alone is reminiscent of a modern version of Def Leppard . Dark Horse is " with a few exceptions, like the dispensable SEX , a welcome exception in the mainstream hard rock sector ". Thanks to Mutt Lange, “the gentlemen conjure up one muscle-packed earwig after the other out of their hats” .
