The IFPI Middle East Awards ; Also GCC Awards (derived from the English abbreviation for the Gulf Cooperation Council ) are music awards from the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry and award prizes in the Middle East or Gulf Cooperation Council reached sales figures with gold, platinum and multi-platinum status.

Origin and criteria

The IFPI Middle East Awards were introduced in October 2009 and apply to CD sales in Bahrain , Kuwait , Lebanon , Oman , Qatar , Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates . Only albums in physical format that were released on CD on July 1st, 2008 or later are eligible. Digital music downloads are not permitted for an award.
