Musical style

According to an article on the music website Billboard.com, the new single Girlfriend is reminiscent of Toni Basils song Mickey . I Can Do Better is a fast track title. The song When You're Gone , which begins with piano and synthesizer, is described as a ballad. The last song that Billboard was allowed to hear in advance is called Everything Back but You and is a pop / punk track in the style of Rancid .

Avril Lavigne wrote short comments for AOL Music on her new songs Girlfriend, I Can Do Better, Everything Back but You and When You're Gone , which are as follows:

  • Girlfriend - "This is the first single from my new record. I'm excited because Girlfriend is a little different. It's a new sound, but it's still me! The song is really fun and makes you want to get up and dance. "
  • I Can Do Better - "This song is one of my favorites. Travis Barker plays the drums here. I had a lot of fun with the track."
  • Everything Back but You - "This song is about a fictional story about a guy who wrote 'I Wish You Were Here' instead of 'I wish you were here' on a postcard ) writes. Something like that. "
  • When You're Gone - "The song is a ballad about leaving someone you love behind and about the little things that you miss about them."

tour

To promote the album, a concert tour called The Best Damn Tour was organized, which began in Canada and the US in March 2008 and later continued in Europe and Asia. The American pop band Jonas Brothers was hired for the opening act in Europe . In the course of her world tour in June / July 2008 Lavigne could also be seen in Germany and Austria. At a concert in the Canadian city of Toronto, the DVD named after the tour was created at the same time, which was released on September 5, 2008 in Europe and on September 9 in North America.
