Butch Walker (* 14. November 1969 in Cartersville , Georgia , as Bradley Glenn Walker III ) is an American solo artist, music producer and songwriter.

Career as a musician

Butch Walker grew up in Cartersville , Georgia , and played guitar in numerous rock bands (including Bad Boyz, Byte the Bullet) during the 1980s. In 1988 he brought Byte The Bullet to Los Angeles, where they were signed to Virgin Records . The band changed their name to SouthGang and released two albums: Tainted Angel (1991) and Group Therapy (1992). SouthGang was one of the first American bands to tour the People's Republic of China .

After leaving the South Gang, Walker formed several well-known bands with ex-South Gang member Jayce Fincher and Mitch McLee Dough Mitchell during the 1990s, including The Floyds, Floyds Funk Revival and finally the popular band Marvelous 3. Under this name they had commercial success with the song Freak of the Week . After the band split in 2001, Walker began tinkering with his solo career. He released the albums Left of Self Centered (2002), Letters (2004) and The Rise and Fall of Butch Walker and the Let's-Go-Out-Tonites (2006). In 2005 Butch Walker played over 200 live shows in the US and Japan . He also formed the band in 1969 with Michael Guy Chislett from The Academy Is ... and Darren Dodd, whose album was released on April 1, 2008.

Many of the songs he wrote became hits for other artists, including Bowling for Soups Hit Girl All the Bad Guys Want . He wrote and produced songs for artists such as Avril Lavigne , Family Force 5 , Pink , Lindsay Lohan , Lit , Simple Plan , Sevendust , Injected , The Donnas , Hot Hot Heat , American Hi-Fi , Default , Gob , Midtown , Puffy AmiYumi , Pete Yorn , Fall Out Boy , Quietdrive , The All-American Rejects , SR-71 , Rock Star: Supernova , The Academy Is ... and The Cab . Walker also wrote the hit Good Times with Tommy Lee .

In 2005, Butch Walker released his first DVD, Live at Budokan, and was named Rolling Stone magazine's producer of the year. On March 17, 2008, his second live DVD, Leavin 'the Game on Luckie Street , was released, which includes the concert at the Tabernacle in Atlanta , which was recorded in late autumn 2007. There is also a sound recording of this DVD, which was available on his page at FriendsOrEnemies.com for $ 5.99 or $ 0 (with a lower bit rate).

Walker was a guest judge on the second season of the American reality TV show Rock Star: Supernova . He produced the winning band's album, which was released on November 21, 2006.

In 2007 Walker sang background on You're Crashing, but You're No Wave by Fall Out Boy . He produced the track Don 'U Know Who I Think I Am? with singer Patrick Stump and also made a brief appearance in the video for This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race .

Butch Walker also had guest appearances in the video "Slow Down" and "We've Got a Big Mess on Our Hands" by The Academy Is ... and more recently in Pinks video for "So What" . As a gesture of thanks, Avril Lavigne appeared in his music video for "Bethamphetamine (Pretty Pretty)" (2006).

In 2008 Butch Walker began posting lots of dates for new songs, DVDs, shows, new albums in 1969 and a new "Butch Album". The album is titled "Sycamore Meadows" and was originally scheduled to be released in July 2008. For personal reasons, Walker postponed the release date to November 11, 2008. In 2010, Walker toured Europe with the Black Widows as a special guest on the P! Nk Funhouse Summer Carnival Tour .

In 2011 he published his autobiography "Drinking with Strangers: Music Lessons from a Teenage Bullet Belt" .

The film "Butch Walker: Out of Focus" (directed by Shane Valdez and Peter Harding) was first shown during the Nashville Film Festival (April 2012). The German premiere took place as part of the 19th Oldenburg Film Festival on September 15, 2012 in the JVA Oldenburg (high security prison).

Private life

Butch Walker lost all his possessions in the forest fires in southern California in late November 2007 , including every songmaster who was in his Malibu home .
