Band history

Foundation (1993 to 2002)

In 1993 the friends Pierre Bouvier, Chuck Comeau, Philippe Jolicoeur and Adrian White founded the band "Reset". They toured Canada with MxPx , Ten Foot Pole and Face to Face and gained their first notoriety. Her debut album No Worries was released in 1997. Shortly afterwards, Comeau left the band to go to college . Two years later, he met his high school friends Jeff Stinco and Sébastien Lefebvre, who were in their own bands, and together they formed Simple Plan. Meanwhile, Reset released their second album entitled No Limits . At the end of 1999, Comeau and Bouvier met at a concert by the Sugar Ray group . Bouvier left Reset shortly afterwards to go to Comeau. David Desrosiers replaced Bouvier at Reset, but left the band six months later to also play with Simple Plan. This enabled Bouvier, who had previously sung and played bass, to concentrate on singing.

The origin of the band's name is not entirely clear. When asked about this, the members gave various answers that were not meant to be serious, for example that the band was a simple plan , a simple plan not to have a job at McDonald’s or another fast food restaurant . An actual inspiration for the name, however, could have been the film A Simple Plan .

No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls (2002 to 2004)

In 2002 Simple Plan released their first studio album No Pads, No Helmets ... Just Balls, from which the singles I'm Just a Kid, I'd Do Anything, Addicted and Perfect were extracted. The name of the album is derived from rugby .

In the United States, the album originally contained twelve tracks, the last being Perfect . Extended and foreign editions were released in several different versions and featured two additional songs. For example, the CD received the extra songs Grow Up and My Christmas List in the US , while the UK version received the bonus tracks One by One and American Jesus (a live cover of a Bad Religion song ) and the music videos from I'd Do Anything and I'm Just a Kid .

Singers from other pop-punk bands played two songs on the album. When I'd Do Anything 's Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 to hear and You Do not Mean Anything Joel Madden of Good Charlotte .

In the album's year of release, Simple Plan played more than 300 concerts and a sold out tour in Japan. The band's appearance on the Vans Warped Tour in 2003 was used in the slasher film Punk Rock Splatter Massacre , in which four out of five band members were killed. Simple Plan played on the Warped Tour in 2004 and 2005. In 2003, she was the opening act of Avril Lavigne on their try-to-shut-Me-Up -Tournee. They also opened for Green Day and Good Charlotte .

Still Not Getting Any (2004 to 2008)

In 2004 the second album Still Not Getting Any ... was released , which translates as: "We still don't get any ...". As with the previous album, the album contained a "behind-the-scenes" video. With the second album they were able to surpass the success of the first.

In July 2005 Simple Plan performed at the Live 8 concert in Barrie , Canada. With Live 8 , the states at the G-8 summit should be moved to debt relief for African countries. They played the songs Shut Up , Jump , Addicted and Welcome to My Life there .

In October 2005 the band performed on MTV Hard Rock Live and released a recording of the concert on CD and DVD. In addition to the show, there are three bonus acoustic tracks on the DVD and one on the CD. At the beginning of 2006 the band campaigned for the “Don't Drink & Drive” campaign. For example, you could buy non-alcoholic beverages at their concerts in Germany at a low price.

Simple Plan (2008 to 2010)

On February 12, 2008 her third studio album was released, called Simple Plan . This is available in a standard version with eleven titles and in a special extended edition with two bonus tracks and a bonus DVD. This includes making-ofs, live videos and the music video for When I'm Gone . This title was released as the first single on January 25th. The second single was Your Love Is a Lie and was released in spring 2008. The next single was Save You , a song by Pierre Bouvier for his sick brother. The single was released in Germany in winter 2008/2009.

A tour of Germany took place in April 2008, with concerts in Hamburg, Cologne, Munich and Berlin. They were also in Zurich on April 6, 2008, and one day later they were on stage at the “Rocksound Festival” in Huttwil. On June 9th, 2009 the only concert of the European tour took place in Austria (Vienna, The Arena). In autumn 2008 Simple Plan played a concert in a corn maze near Frankfurt am Main. In addition, four more Simple Plan concerts took place in Dortmund, Munich, Berlin and Cologne in November 2008. As opening groups, kids played in Glass Houses and Zebrahead .

As part of the official closing ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , Simple Plan played Your Love Is a Lie .

Get Your Heart On (2010 to 2013)

In the summer of 2010, Simple Plan played at several open airs, where she presented the piece You Suck at Love , among other things . On March 31, 2011, Simple Plan released the new song Can't Keep My Hands off You on their homepage . Rivers Cuomo , the singer from Weezer, can be heard on the song . Another version was used for the soundtrack of the movie Prom - The Night of Your Life . On April 25, 2011, Jet Lag , the first official song of the new album, was released on their homepage. The song exists in two versions: an English version with Natasha Bedingfield and a French version with Marie-Mai . The album was finally released on June 21, 2011. Two versions of the third single Summer Paradise were also released, one with Canadian rapper K'naan and one with Jamaican dancehall and reggae singer Sean Paul . Since March 2013 there is also a version of Summer Paradise with the singer Taka from the Japanese rock band One Ok Rock , which was recorded during the Japan tour.

On November 29, 2013, the album was expanded to include the EP Get Your Heart On - The Second Coming! supplemented, on which seven B-sides are included.

Taking One for the Team (Since 2014)

In 2014 there were increasing reports that the band was working on new material with the support of other artists. Among them is the band 3OH! 3 as well as Mark Hoppus from Blink-182 and Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low . At a charity event of the band's own Simple Plan Foundation in November 2014, the band presented the new song Boom . This is included on the band's new album, which should actually be released in spring 2015. On November 30, 2015, the announcement followed that the fifth album would be called Taking One for the Team and should be released on February 19, 2016. A total of four titles, Opinion Overload , Boom , I Don't Wanna Go to Bed and I Don't Wanna Be Sad , have already been released. The remaining ten tracks followed with the album release.
