Simple Plan is the third studio album by Canadian pop-rock - band Simple Plan and appeared on 12 February, 2008.
Emergence
After the tour Still Not Getting Any… the band took time from March 2006 to write new songs together with Arnold Lanni, the producer of their first album. On July 1, 2007, she went into the studio and began recording in Los Angeles and Montreal . From September 2007 , Chris Lord-Alge mixed the album in Los Angeles. On October 21, 2007, the band announced the album for January 29, 2008. As some passages in the song Generation had to be changed, the release was delayed.
At the beginning of December 2007 the album cover was presented. After some fans objected on MySpace , the band released a second cover on December 12th and asked fans to email their thoughts on both covers. The cover ultimately rejected was used in April 2008 for a limited edition in Australia .
The song Your Love Is a Lie first appeared on YouTube on December 18, 2007 . With the exception of Holding On , all of the songs on the album were presented at a gig in Montreal on January 11, 2008.
The album was also nominated for the Juno Awards 2008 in the category "Best Album", but lost to Nickelback's Dark Horse .
Single releases
- The first single from the album was When I'm Gone , and was released on October 29, 2007 via iTunes and lala.com . The song's world premiere took place during a webcast with the band members, in which the band answered fan questions. On October 24th, Simple Plan posted a 25 second preview of When I'm Gone on their website. It came in at number 11 on the Canadian Hot 100 and number 26 on the UK singles chart .
- The second single, Your Love Is a Lie , was released in February 2008 and reached number 16 on the Canadian Hot 100.
- The third single Save You was released on August 14, 2008. Pierre Bouvier said in interviews that this song was addressed to his brother who had cancer. To raise awareness of the topic of cancer, the music video features many well-known cancer survivors. The song landed at number 18 on the Canadian Hot 100.
