Marie-Mai Bouchard (born July 7, 1984 in Varennes , Québec ) is a Canadian singer. She appears under her stage name Marie-Mai . She originally gained notoriety as one of the finalists on the Canadian talent show Star Académie .

Life

Marie-Mai was musically active at an early age. As a child, she took piano lessons and performed in musical theater. Her grandmother recognized her talent as a singer, encouraged her and suggested that Marie-Mai take part in the Star Académie casting show . In 2003, she reached the final of the show, finishing in third place. This was the start of her musical career.

On February 28, 2010, Marie-Mai sang her song Emmène-moi at the closing ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver .

In 2011, after five years of engagement, Marie-Mai married her producer, Fred St-Gelais , in Hawaii. Five years later, the two were divorced.

Marie-Mai has been in a relationship with David Laflèche since 2016 and gave birth to their daughter Gisèle on February 15, 2017.
