- 1770: After the three-day naval battle of Çeşme in the Fifth Russo-Turkish War , the destruction of the Ottoman fleet by the Russians is as good as complete. On the night of July 8th, the last minor battles end.
- 1777: After taking Fort Ticonderoga the day before, the British attack the rearguard of the Americans and defeat them at the Battle of Hubbardton .
