Germaine Malépart

Germaine Malépart (born July 7, 1898 in St-Vincent-de-Paul , † April 19, 1963 in Montreal ) was a Canadian pianist and music teacher.

Malépart had piano lessons with Arthur Letondal from 1905 and made his debut at the age of thirteen at the Ladies' Morning Musical Club in Montreal. She won a Prix ​​d'Europe in 1917 and studied piano with Isidor Philipp and Maurice Amour and composition with Roland Broche at the Conservatoire de Paris . During her stay in Paris she gave concerts in the Salle Gaveau and the Salle Pleyel .

After her return in late 1922, she toured Canada and the United States, gave radio concerts and appeared as a soloist with the Société des concerts symphoniques de Montréal .

Since 1942 Malépart has taught at the École Vincent-d'Indy and at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec . Her students included u. a. Lise Boucher , Andrée Desautels , Pierre Hétu , Mireille Lagacé , François Morel , Renée Morisset , Claude Savard , William Stevens , Gilles Tremblay and Ronald Turini . In 1978 the Conservatory named the Salle Germaine-Malépart after her.
