Albert Semjonowitsch Leman

Albert Semyonovich Leman ( Lehman (s) , Russian Альберт Семёнович Леман , * June 24 . Jul / 7. July  1915 greg. In Volsk , † 3. December 1998 in Moscow ) was a Russian composer .

Leman studied composition with Mikhail Fabianowitsch Gnessin and Wladimir Wladimirowitsch Nilssen in Leningrad . 1941-42 he headed the music department at the Leningrad Administration for Art Affairs of the Leningrad Executive Committee. Since 1942 he lived in Kazan and worked at the local conservatory (since 1945: professor). In 1964 he became a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Leman was a professor from 1971 and until 1997 was the head of the chair of composition at the Moscow Conservatory . His students included Gamma Skupinsky , Alexander Raskatow , Emilian Sichkin , Sergei Zagny and the Mongolian composer Sangidordschiin Sansargereltech .

Leman composed a symphony , a symphonic suite on Tatar themes, a festival overture, three piano and two violin concertos as well as a cello concerto, three prelude cycles for piano, two oratorios, plays, romances and songs.
