Emilian Sichkin

Emilian Sichkin (* 1954 ) is an American composer.

The son of the Russian actor Boris Sichkin received musical training from the age of three. His first compositions were written when he was nine years old. He studied at the Gnessin Music School and at the Moscow Conservatory with Albert Leman .

The family later emigrated to the United States and settled in New York. It was there that Sichkin's first composition was published in 1986, his Concerto for Astronauts , which was played two years in a row at New York's South Street Seaport and on New York's WQXR classical music channel.

In 1991 The Winds of Freedom was performed at Carnegie Hall and received a standing ovation. Between 1991 and 1993 he wrote the symphonic tragedy Romeo and Juliet , for which the first drafts were made during his training at the Gnessin Music School.
