Johann Neefe

Johann Neefe (born August 29, 1499 - † July 7, 1574 in Dresden ) was the personal physician of the Electors Moritz and August of Saxony and also curator of the court orchestra in Dresden. In 1563 and 1564 he worked as a medical advisor to Emperor Ferdinand I , where he recorded the emperor's table conversations. He was a founder in his hometown of Chemnitz .

The Neefestrasse in Chemnitz also commemorates the cloth-making and patrician family of the Neefes, from whom several mayors of the city of Chemnitz descended.
