Fulbert Steffensky (born July 7, 1933 in Rehlingen in the Saar area ) is a German theologian .

Life

Steffensky studied Catholic and Protestant theology. At the age of 21 he entered the Benedictine monastery Maria Laach , which he left after thirteen years without church permission.

In 1969 Steffensky converted to the Lutheran creed , married the evangelical theologian Dorothee Sölle and in the same year became a research assistant at the Pädagogische Hochschule Ruhr. Steffensky received his doctorate in 1972 from the Ruhr University in Bochum . In 1968 he and Dorothee Sölle co-founded the Political Night Prayer , a liturgy that was regularly celebrated in the Antoniterkirche in Cologne from 1968 to 1972 .

Fulbert Steffensky held his first professorship for educational science from 1972 to 1975 at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences , before moving to the University of Hamburg in 1975 as professor for religious education in the educational science department , where he worked until 1998.

At the 32nd Evangelical Church Congress in Bremen in 2009 , Steffensky called for a communion between Catholic and Protestant Christians during the 2nd Ecumenical Church Congress in Munich 2010. Today Fulbert Steffensky lives with his second wife, the Roman Catholic. Theologian Li Hangartner in Central Switzerland, in Lucerne.
