André Pisart
André Pisart (born March 17, 1898 , † July 7, 1952 ) was a Belgian racing driver and journalist.
Career
In 1924 , a year after the debut race , four Belgian racing drivers competed in the Le Mans 24-hour race . In addition to Joseph Chavée , Raymond de Tornaco and Henri-Julien Matthys , André Pisart was also part of this quartet. Pisart was a test driver and driver of the new vehicles at Chenard & Walcker and started racing for the company in 1923. From 1919 to 1923 he was managing director of the Belgian car manufacturer Automobiles Leroux-Pisart .
The first success was third overall in the Coupe Georges Boillot in 1923 . At Le Mans in 1924 he was the first Belgian to win a class. Together with Joseph Chavée, he finished fourth overall and won the classification for vehicles between 1.5 and 2 liter displacement. In the same year he also drove the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race . His team mate was the engineer and Le Mans overall winner André Lagache , with whom he achieved second place overall.
In the following years he celebrated further successes for the French team. He finished third at the Circuit des Routes Pavées in 1924 and, together with Raphaël Manso de Zuñiga, seventh in the 1925 Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race . Behind de Zuñiga and René Léonard , he and Lagache finished second in the 1926 Guipúzcoa Grand Prix .
Piscart worked as a motorsport journalist in the 1930s. In 1945 his autobiography Mes Courses, A. Pisart, Les Éditions Lumière, Bruxelles, 1945 appeared .
