Raphaël Manso de Zuñiga y Montesinos (born January 7, 1898 in Aiara , † 1962 ) was a Spanish racing car driver .

Career

De Zuñiga was the first Spaniard to take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans . In the second races in Le Mans history he was registered as a partner of Christian Dauvergne on a factory- Henard & Walcker 2-liter 10 / 12CV. He finished the race in fifth place overall. In 1925 , a class win followed with tenth place. Together with Raymond Glaszmann , this time on a Chenard & Walcker tank, he won the 1st Biennial Cup and thus the Index of Performance .

His greatest success in motorsport was winning the 1926 Guipúzcoa Grand Prix , a touring and sports car race on the Circuito Lasarte in Donostia-San Sebastián . Again as a factory driver from Chenard & Walcker, the racing event with partner René Léonard won ahead of teammates André Lagache and André Pisart .

He also entered the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race three times, in 1925 , 1926 and 1928 . The best place in the final classification was seventh in 1926.
