Guangzhou Museum of Art
The Guangzhou Art Museum ( 廣州 藝術 博物院 , Guǎngzhōu Yishu bówùyuǎn ; official English name: Guangzhou Museum of Art ; general abbreviation: GMA) is located in the center of Guangzhou City , China, at 13 Luhu Road, where it was established in 1995 as the successor to the former "Guangzhou Art Museum" and can therefore look back on a 60-year history in 2015.
Collection areas
The museum has a permanent exhibition in the two areas “Gallery of Chinese Paintings of All Dynasties” and “Gallery of Lingnan Painting School”. There are also function rooms for variable exhibitions and conferences. Sculptures are also shown in various areas of the building and on the museum forecourt.
Gallery of Chinese Paintings of All Dynasties
This shows Chinese painting from the Song Dynasty to modern times in historical order according to schools and genre. Working out under it
- the Northern Song: Wen Tong
- of the Yuan Dynasty : Huang Gongwang and Li Kang
- of the Ming Dynasty : Dai Jin , Lin Liang , Shen Zhou , Qiu Ying , Dong Qichang and Lan Ying
- of the Qing Dynasty : the Four Wang , the Four Monks , painters from the Jinling Painting School and the Yangzhou Painting School also known as the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou . In addition, the Zwei Su and Zwei Ju from the Lingnan geographic area and the Haishang Painting School
- from the 20th century are represented: Qi Baishi , Huang Binhong , Pan Tianshou , Zhang Daqian , Lin Fengmian , Fu Baoshi and painters from the Lingnan School of Painting .
Gallery of Lingnan Painting School
In the Gallery of Lingnan Painting School , a specialty of the GMA, painters from the Lingnan region are concentrated and exhibited. The founders of the "Lingnan School" are highlighted: Gao Jianfu , Chen Shuren , Gao Qifeng . Students of these founders are Huang Shaoqiang , Zhao Shao'ang , Li Xiongcai , Guan Shanyue and Yang Shanshen . The exhibits are gifts from the artists or their families to the museum. The GMA organizes exhibitions on the Lingnan School at home and abroad. For example, the exhibition on Chao Shao-an ( 赵 少 昂 , Zhào Shǎo'áng ) 2015 in Hong Kong.
