Lingnan School of Painting ( 嶺南 畫派 , Lǐngnán Huàpai ) a South Chinese branch of Chinese painting . It developed in the 19th century in a geographical area of ​​China called Lingnan, which is also where the Lingnan culture is located. However, the Lingnan School of Painting does not generally include painting from the provinces of Guangdong and Guangxi , the provinces south of the Five Mountain Ranges. The term is limited to a painting school of the 20th century, which arose from the work of Gao Jianfu (1879–1951), Gao Qifeng (1889–1933) and Chen Shuren (1883–1948). Co-founder Chen Shuren

Chen Shuren (1983–1948) limited his work to more decorative paintings of symbolic plants in Chinese painting in connection with birds and landscapes with animals.
