Lingnan

Lingnan ( Chinese  嶺南  /  岭南 , Pinyin Lǐngnán , Jyutping Ling 5 naam 4 ) is the name for a region south of China's " Five Mountain Ranges ". The area is located in what is now the provinces of Guangdong , Guangxi , Hunan and Jiangxi .

history

Lingnan was inhabited by the Hundred Yue Tribes and was the motherland of the ancient Nan-Yue State . During this time, Lingnan was viewed by the Chinese as a barbarian land and had only loose contact with the Zhongyuan region. In the 2nd century BC The region was incorporated into the Chinese Empire. Its development has continued since Chancellor Zhang Jiuling had a road built over the Mei Pass ( Meiguan ) in the Tang period .
