Peter Abstreiter (born July 7, 1980 in Landshut ) is a German ice hockey player who last played at EV Landshut in the Oberliga Süd .

Career

After he was already used in the youth division in the teams of EV Landshut in the national leagues there, his career in senior ice hockey began in 1998 at EV Landshut in the 1st Bundesliga . In the same season he moved to TSV Erding in the 2nd Bundesliga. He spent the next season initially at EV Landshut, but then moved to Munich Barons during the season and stayed there until the end of the 2001/02 season. In 2002/03 he spent two seasons with the Hamburg Freezers and then found a new home in Hanover in 2003 . Here he only stayed one season and switched to the Kassel Huskies . After a changeable 2005/06 season, which ended with the relegation of the Huskies to the 2nd Bundesliga, Abstreiter switched to the newly promoted Straubing Tigers . Back in his Bavarian homeland, he and his older brother Tobias Abstreiter stormed for the Tigers. After only one season, he also left Straubing for Landshut Cannibals . After outstanding performances and the runner-up in the 2nd Bundesliga , he signed a trial contract with Adler Mannheim at the beginning of the 2008/09 season , which was not renewed after 12 games. Then Abstreiter moved to league rivals Füchse Duisburg , where he received a contract until the end of the 2009/10 season. After Duisburg filed for bankruptcy, he announced his return to his hometown, where Abstreiter signed a contract with the Landshut Cannibals on May 4, 2009.

In the following ten years Abstreiter played for his home club in the 2nd Bundesliga, the Oberliga and DEL2 . In 2015, the club rose from the DEL2 to the league. In June 2018, Abstreiter suffered a herniated disc and was not able to return to the ice until January 2019.

In 2019 Abstreiter made it back to the DEL2 with the EVL, but did not receive a new contract in Landshut after this success.
