The TSV 1862 Erding is a sports club in Erding (Bavaria), which was founded in the 1862nd It consists of the departments badminton , boxing , ice hockey , ice skating , pentathlon , soccer , weightlifting , handball , judo , karate , bowling , athletics , cycling , modern swordsmanship , swimming , stick shooting , dancing , table tennis , gymnastics , volleyball . With 20 departments and over 3,000 members, it is the largest sports club in the Erding district.

history

The predecessor club was founded on June 9, 1862 as the “Erdinger Gymnastics and Fire Brigade Association” with the aim of training its members' physical dexterity through gymnastics exercises and of leading the gymnastics lessons for school children. From autumn 1886, the club, which had since been renamed MTV , had its own gym on the Spitalfeld, in which regular gymnastics was now possible in winter as well. On May 14, 1900, the general assembly decided to found a girls' team and thus opened up access to gymnastics for women. In 1914 the soccer department is mentioned for the first time, for which a meadow next to the gym was leased. Two years later, the gymnastics business was discontinued due to a large number of drafts for military service during the First World War , which made regular operation impossible.

In 1924, the football department left the German Gymnastics Association to join the German Football Association , which led to a dispute within the club. Meanwhile, the athletes joined the South German State Association for Athletics, so that the neat separation between gymnastics and sport that was customary at the time was finally carried out. In 1932 planning began for the construction of a larger sports facility next to the new shooting range, which in 1935 entailed the construction of a grandstand and the fencing of the entire area.

During the Second World War , the sport was completely stopped and finally in autumn 1946 the new license of the gymnastics club under the name "Turn- und Sportverein 1862 Erding" applied for. It was not until September 21, 1957 that the merger between TSV Erding with the gymnastics and athletics departments and SV Erding with the soccer, weight training, boxing and handball departments succeeded. In 1962 Georg Harrer and table tennis player founded the table tennis department, in October 1977 the swimming department "Delphine" was founded.

In 1978 the cyclists were added, and with the newly built artificial ice rink, the ice hockey, ice skating and stick sports departments were formed. In 1986 the judo department was established. From 1992 the triathletes were also part of the TSV Erding for six years, at the end of 2002 the departments “Modern Pentathlon” and “Dancing” were added. Since the beginning of January 2004 there has also been a “Modern sword art” department.

Ice Hockey Department

history

The ice hockey department was founded in 1978 with the construction of a new artificial ice rink and initially started in the Bavarian State League , from which the team was promoted to the Bavarian League in 1981 . In 1985 TSV qualified for the fourth-class regional league for the first time , and in 1988 , when they finished fourth, they were promoted to the Oberliga Süd . Between 1989 and 1991 the TSV made the leap into the qualifying round for the 2nd Bundesliga , but without advancing to the second highest division.

After the play-off round of 16 against ESC Wedemark in the 1993/94 season , TSV Erding was classified in the second-class 1st League South as part of the establishment of the German Ice Hockey League and its professional team was part of a company as Erding Jets limited liability . In fourth place, the Jets already qualified for the DEL in their first season , but decided not to advance and thus continued to play in the first division. After a second round-off the following year against the EC Wilhelmshaven the team reached 1997 the relegation matches to DEL failed there but again the Wedemark Scorpions. As eleventh in the newly founded Bundesliga , the Jets were relegated to the top division in 1999 , but after just one year the team rose again to the second division as a successor. After another relegation to the league, the GmbH had to file for bankruptcy during the 2001/02 season , but this was averted. Since after the season it quickly became clear that the budget for another season in the major league would not come about, they voluntarily withdrew to the state association, again under the umbrella of TSV Erding.

Within two seasons, the team rose via the district and state league to the fourth-class Bayernliga, which TSV Erding, having been on the ice as Erding Gladiators since 2008 , belonged to until the 2010/11 season. For the 2011/12 season, the team exercised their right of promotion after the ERC Sonthofen waived as a successor in the Oberliga Süd, in which the team remained in 2011/12 and 2012/13 despite relegation. At the end of the 2014/15 season, by resolution of the association's council, the team - despite sporting qualifications - was withdrawn from the major league and was classified by the BEV in the - fifth class - regional league for the 2015/16 season . With the final victory over the Passau Blackhawks, you immediately rose back to the Bayern League.
