Cup competitions
Bayern mug
The Bayernkrug was a national ice hockey cup of the state of Bavaria. It is held annually - with breaks - under the direction of the BEV. Originally all senior teams registered with the BEV were eligible to participate; from 2010, teams in the Bayern League were no longer permitted. Since the minimum number of teams requested by the Bavarian Ice Sports Association is regularly exceeded, qualifying games were played in advance so that a round of 16 could then start. The game was played in a knockout system with a return leg, with the results added up. If there is a tie after the second leg, the winner will be determined in the penalty shootout. Lower-class clubs generally had home rights in the first leg - but the clubs could deviate from this by mutual agreement. The competition was discontinued in 2011 due to decreasing interest.
